At a very young age, Dora Konomi decided she wanted to become a lawyer because she enjoys helping others solve their problems. Winning her first trial and her first motion at the Court of Appeal at the onset of her career confirmed Dora’s suspicion; she was meant to be a litigator. Unsurprisingly, Dora loves strategizing and preparing for upcoming “courtroom battles.”
Dora is an advocate whose practice involves a broad range of civil litigation. She approaches each matter by focusing on her clients’ needs and providing effective and practical solutions. Growing up in the construction world, Dora advises her clients the same way she would advise her father. She is not afraid to litigate complex matters. Although she has litigated a broad range of claims, Dora’s interest lies in commercial litigation with an emphasis on construction disputes, fraud, debt enforcement, and condominium law.
Being technically-minded, Dora assisted the firm’s transition to remote litigation and establishing a virtual courtroom. She is always looking for ways to use technology to maximize results and minimize costs for clients.
Dora’s advocacy experience started before she became a lawyer. During law school, Dora was a member of the international mooting team that won the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna. Thereafter, Dora coached several mooting teams, including the University of Ottawa’s first Warren K. Winkler Class Action Moot, for which she won a number of awards. She continues to be actively involved in the University of Ottawa’s mooting program.
Dora emigrated from Greece to Canada at the age of 14, but has not forgotten her roots. She is an active participant in the Greek Canadian community. She has her own radio show, hosts various fundraising events, sits on the PR and Next Generation Committees for the Hellenic Heritage Foundation, and is involved with the Hellenic Canadian Lawyers’ Association. Dora is also often interviewed on Greek national television and local media outlets.
